A Pra Khun Paen amulet with bas-relieves of a Buddha in Mara Vichai Gesture in the front, and a standing Legendary Great Warrior General Khun Paen of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya ready for battle holding swords in the back. Made from “Pong Viset Kong Chai Chum”, a holy powder made by and from the private collections of Luang phor Kong of Wat Ban Suan, Pra Archan Chai of Wat Khao Aor, and Archan Chum Chaikiree of Samnak Khao Chaison (READ MORE). Made by Archan Chum Chaikiree and Luang Phor Kong of Wat Ban Suan for Wat Ban Suan, Phatthalung Province in BE 2512 (CE 1969). And this amulet was once stored in a holy water jar of Wat Ban Suan for decades.

Pra Khun Paen

The Pra Khun Paen is a type of amulet with figure of Pra Buddha Chinnaraj of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan (Wat Yai or Wat Pra Buddha Chinnaraj) seating inside an elaborate arch. This type of amulet was first discovered at Wat Pra Roop Archaeology Site, Suphan Buri Province. And such type of ancient baked clay amulet with figure of Pra Buddha Chinnaraj is called “Pra Khun Paen” ever since. It was called Pra Khun Paen to honor the Thai famous Warrior General Khun Paen, the Governor of Suphan Buri Province in the Kingdom of Ayutthaya.

Pong Viset Kong Chai Chum refers to 3 kinds of holy powder of 3 Masters which are Archan Kong of Wat Ban Suan, Archan Chai of Wat Khao Aor, And Archan Chum Chaikiree of Samnak Khao Chaison. The Pong Viset Kong Chai Chum contains the followings:-
